Viola Davis will be returning to her role as Amanda Waller. In the trailer, Waller is threatened at knifepoint byBloodsport ( Idris Elba)in one of the first scenes. The first few clips of the exclusive trailer carry the intensity of how dire the mission is that it requires the prisoners of Belle Reve. As in the comics, Belle Reve is the prison in which the most elite super-villains can be found. Joining the squad as well are Pete Davidson, John Cena, Margot Robbie, and many more.

The combination of high-stake action scenes followed by comic relief is what seems to be most prevalent in the trailer. The cast has both actors who are known for more serious roles along with celebrities who specialize in comedy. This is what makesthe dynamic ofThe Suicide Squadall the more irresistible. The way the trailer is able to weave in and out of different genres and tones in a way that is still cohesive is astounding.

The trailer jumps from gunpoints, knives, and jail cells - to a scene in which all of the supervillains are trying to pinpoint what type of animal the character of Weasel is. The leaked trailer also provides fans with a closer look at the ultimate villain,Justice Leaguefoe Starro. The trailer closes off with an impressive sneak peek at multiple battle scenes, the destruction of buildings, and an array of fierce stunts.

The Suicide Squadhits theaters and is available for streaming on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021.
