A streamer known for his IRL streams was nearly robbed while broadcasting live onTwitch. While walking the streets of Thailand, the streamer who goes by the moniker MeesterKeem was approached by an individual who turned the live stream into an unexpectedly scary broadcast. The incident has brought up concerns aboutIRL streamers and their safetywhile going live.
The genre of IRL streaming has become a popular niche on various platforms likeTwitch. Streamers will broadcast their everyday lives while viewers tune in to see what their favorite content creator is up to. These types of streams usually cover seemingly mundane tasks in a person’s life, but occasionally there are moments caught on camera that shock not only viewers but the streamers recording the event. There have even been concerns raised that streamers gain a false sense of safety while recording that can get them into more dangerous situations that they wouldn’t face without a camera.

Unfortunately, MeesterKeem was one of those IRL streamers who happened to come across a potentially dangerous situation while going live. In a brief clip taken from the Twitch stream, MeesterKeem can be seen walking down a street in Thailand at night when he’s approached by someone on the sidewalk. The stranger appears to try and flirt with MeesterKeem, and when the streamer finally manages to pull away from the person he notices they have taken his wallet, causing MeesterKeem to immediately act and snatch the wallet back. Thankfully, MeesterKeem was luckier thanother unfortunate IRL streamers, but the interaction is still scary to watch unfold.
Although MeesterKeem makes it out of the situation unscathed, the interaction caused some discourse in the chat about how some IRL streamers feel too safe behind a camera and that they should avoid sketchy looking areas at night. Despite this being a valid concern, there’s no way to predict that these situations will occur. There have been a variety ofcontroversies in the IRL streaming community, but some streamers just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and have to handle the situation the best they can. MeesterKeem handled the attempted robbery pretty well, seeming fairly relaxed during the interaction.
Hopefully this exchange between MeesterKeem and the stranger will inspire otherIRL streamers to be more carefulwhile going live to their viewers. It’s a great relief that MeesterKeem made it out of the situation safely, but the stream could have gone a much darker way if the stranger happened to be armed or aggressive. Just because a situation is being filmed doesn’t mean an environment is safe, and hopefully IRL streamers will consider this going forward.
