The anime adaptation for Kuji Furumiya’s light novelUnnamed Memoryis set to premiere in 2023, the anime’s official website and Twitter account revealed. Studio ENGI is producing the series directed by Kazuya Miura.
Deko Akao is handling the script while Chika Nomi oversees character design and Akito Matsuda is in charge of the music. Kazuya Miura also directed the seriesUzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!at Studio ENGI. Deko Akao also worked on the series composition ofKomi Can’t Communicate,The Case Study of Vanitas,andNoragami. Akito Matsuda is widely known for composing and arranging the music forThe iDOLM@STERseries.

The cast ofUnnamed Memoryhas also been announced along with the trailer and visual. Yoshiki Najima is voicing Oscar and Atsumi Tanezaki is voicing Tinasha. Najima is known for playing the role ofShun Aoi fromAoashiand Masayuki Amasu fromOrient.
Tanezaki is widely known for her role as Anya Forger fromSpy x FamilyandVivy fromVivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song. She will also be part of upcoming anime projects such asNier: Automata Ver 1.1aas Lily, season 2 ofThe Ancient Magus’ Brideas Chise Hatori, and the 2nd season ofMy Dress-Up Darlingas Sajuna Inui.
Unnamed Memoryis a Japanese light novel by Kuji Furumiya with illustrations by Chibi. ASCII Media Works is publishing the series under the Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint. The light novel has six volumes in total and lasted from January 2019 to April 2021. A manga adaptation was also spearheaded by Naoki Koshimizu and published at ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Daioh magazine. Yen Press is licensing both the light novel and the manga in English.
Unnamed Memoryis one of the most critically acclaimed and award-winning light novels in recent memory. However, some fans have expressed concerns over Studio ENGI adapting the light novel, since theiranime adaptation ofThe Detective is Already Deadwas met with some mixed reception.
Taking that aside,Unnamed Memoryis still worth the time as Kazuya Miura did well directingUzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out. Not to mention that Deko Akao also worked on other successful series.
