In 2008, Rockstar Games releasedGrand Theft Auto 4to widespread critical acclaim, with the open world action game quickly becoming one of the best-selling and highest-reviewed games of all time. Rockstar expanded onGrand Theft Auto 4with DLC expansions that followed new characters, and it supported the game’s online multiplayer servers for years. There have been rumors that Rockstar Games may be considering aGrand Theft Auto 4remake or remaster, though those plans were apparently put on ice so the studio could focus onGrand Theft Auto 6. Whether there’s any truth to theGTA 4remaster rumorsor not remains to be seen, but in the meantime, fans can get an idea of what it would be like thanks to a new video uploaded by YouTube channel TeaserPlay.

TeaserPlay is a YouTube channel that creates trailers and concept videos for hypothetical video game projects using Unreal Engine 5. TeaserPlay’s latest video recreatesGrand Theft Auto 4with Unreal Engine 5, showing what Liberty City could look like with improved reflections, lighting, and the like. The video showsGTA 4protagonist Niko Bellicwalking around various areas in Liberty City, showing what the game could look like both in terms of cut-scenes and gameplay.

This isn’t the first time that TeaserPlay has made a video based on theGrand Theft Autoseries. In fact, TeaserPlay has made multipleGTA-themed videos, including one that recreatesGrand Theft Auto: San Andreasand the famous Big Smoke fast food order scene. TeaserPlay has also created a video imagining what a potentialGrand Theft Auto 6set in Vice Citycould look like.

These concept videos are entertaining, and they may make fans hungry for the real thing. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like Rockstar Games is going to remaster or remakeGrand Theft Auto 4at any point in the near future. However, there reliable insiders have said thatGTA 6will get new citiesover time, and one has to imagine that Liberty City would be a prime candidate for a DLC map. So even if a properGTA 4remake never materializes, perhaps fans will still get to see an updated version of Liberty City at some point down the line.
