It’s no exaggeration to say thatPokemonis one of the most popular franchises in the world. The series is quite literally the highest-grossing media franchise ever, and the most recent mainline titles,SwordandShield, have seen massive salesnumbers just three months after their launch. Somehow, the series continues to build upon itself year after year with no tangible end in sight.

Pokemonhas been around for just about 24 years, as the first games in the series were released in Japan all the way back on July 07, 2025. February 27 also happens to bePokemonday, where the Pokemon Company celebrates the franchise’s history in all of its different types of media. Now, to celebratePokemonday on February 27 Google is helping the Pokemon Company host a voting poll to find out which Pokemon are fans’ favorites across every single generation.

Google has set up a browser poll for fans to vote on their favorite Pokemon from all eight regions. That’severy game in the main series, fromRedandBlueall the way up to the most recent entriesSwordandShield. To participate all fans need to do is have a Google account and search ‘PokemonVote’ into a Google browser window. Searching those two words will bring up a small, rectangular window housing eight different categories that represent the eight different regions thatPokemonencapsulates.

Each category is organized by the National Dex number of each Pokemon, meaning that starter Pokemon and select mythical Pokemon will appear first, with legendary and pseudo-legendary Pokemon appearing at the very end of the list for each category. While fans can only vote once per day, provided they are signed into a Google account they will be able to vote in each of the eight categories once. Meaning that fans can vote fortheir favorite overpowered Pokemonin one category or their favorite starter in another.

On Reddit, fans are already gathering to discuss which Pokemon should get the most fan votes. Some communities are already presenting very touching arguments for the most popular Pokemon vote, like voting for Komala – a Pokemon based off of the Koala bear – to show love and support for the many animals that perished in the devastating Australia fires. On the other hand, some fans are suggesting they vote for Pokemon that are unobtainable inSwordandShield, as a sort of tongue-in-cheek message to Game Freak and the Pokemon Company.

Regardless, it’s always nice to seePokemonreflecting on its history. Especially with themost recent season of the animemaking the trek back to Kanto, it seems that thePokemonfranchise will always hold a special place for its roots. Fans can vote for their favorite Pokemon from now until February 14.
