An In-Depth Look at Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and Resident Evil 4 Remake

Given that Capcom has already fleshed out what players should expect to see in the Gold Edition ofResident Evil Village, it is likely that tomorrow’s showcase will focus on shedding some light on the story of theShadows of RoseDLC, its characters, and how it will affect the franchise moving forward. It is worth remembering that Capcom confirmed thatShadows of Roseis set 16 years afterVillagein a previous trailer, which would isolateResident Evil’slegacy characters. Tomorrow’s showcase may also focus onShadows of Rose’sgameplay, such as new enemy types, weapons, items, locations, and more.

As far asResident Evil 4 Remakeis concerned, Capcom confirmed that tomorrow’s event would see the release of never-before-seen gameplay footage and a new trailer. Given thatResident Evil 4is one of the franchise’s most beloved entries, fans have eagerly anticipated seeing new footage of the upcoming game to assess whether it will live up to the original.

Resident Evil 1 And 2 Chris Jill Leon And Claire

While Capcom’sResident Evilremakes have been mostly successful, fans have been divided on whether these recreations are worthy of the name, as with the case ofthe negative reception received byResident Evil 3 Remake. Of course, no one can fully assess whether a game is good until one gets to experience it for themselves. However, tomorrow’s showcase would at least give fans a sneak peek of the remake.

A Possible Surprise Announcement for the Resident Evil Franchise

As previously mentioned, the latest teaser for tomorrow’sResident Evilshowcasehinted that more would be discussed beyondResident Evil VillageGold EditionandResident Evil 4 Remake. While fans would have to watch the showcase for themselves to find out, there are several possibilities of what this could be.

First, Capcom may announce another DLC expansion forResident Evil Village. Looking at Capcom’shistory,Resident Evil 7received two DLC expansions, and it is possible thatResident Evil Villagewould follow suit. Another story expansion forResident Evil Villagecould focus on Chris Redfield and maybe other legacy characters such as Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Leon Kennedy, giving them a proper send-off if the series is truly moving forward without them.

Another possible scenario would be the announcement of a new game in theResident Evilfranchise, which could either be a new entry to the mainline series or a spin-off game. It is worth remembering that rumors have sparked before that Capcom is developinga spin-off game calledResident Evil Outragethat will allegedly see the return of Rebecca Chambers. However, Capcom never confirmed the existence of this spin-off title, so the possibility of its announcement tomorrow may be slim.

Of course, given that Capcom has rightfully earned the reputation of king of video game remakes, one can’t discount the possibility ofaCode Veronicaremake. However, given thatResident Evil 4 Remakeis still in development and is yet to be released, the chance ofCode Veronicabeing announced at tomorrow’s showcase is improbable. Lastly, now that the remakes of the first threeResident Evilgames are out, many are hoping for Capcom to remaster and release the originalResident Eviltrilogy for current-gen consoles. While the studio hasn’t revealed any intentions to remaster its classic games, announcing a plan to do so tomorrow would surely be welcomed with open arms byResident Evilfans.

Resident Evil Village: Gold Editionwill release on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
