Summary
BeforeHogwarts Legacylaunched, and certainly before its official gameplay reveal, there was a lot of speculation about what an open-world action-RPG set in the wizarding world would look like. The early leak gave some insight into what would eventually turn out to be fairly similar, but UI and other subtle gameplay details were still undetermined. It was shown that an early build ofHogwarts Legacyfeatured Knuts, Sickles, and Galleons, for example, though that would ultimately be distilled to Galleons exclusively for the final product.
Likewise, it was unclear ifHogwarts Legacywould have its own Witcher Senses as many games of a similar ilk do nowadays. That ended up being true in the form ofthe Revelio spell, which players will be intimately familiar with if they endeavored to reach full completion throughout each segmented region. Otherwise, the UI was relatively simplistic and non-invasive. It might’ve been interesting to see a Remembrall function as a way for players to catch up on quests and activities, and one could in aHogwarts Legacysequel, but there would be advantages and disadvantages of debuting one now.

A Remembrall Could Substitute Hogwarts Legacy’s UI Saturation and Quest Task Logs
A Remembrall Might Not Help as Much as It Should in a Hogwarts Legacy Sequel
Remembralls being introduced inaHogwarts Legacysequelwould add nostalgic value, but there are also a few ways it could contribute to players’ UX while immersing themselves once more in the wizarding world:
However, as Neville laments inHarry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the item isn’t supposed to actually help the user remember what it is they’ve forgotten, but rather remind them that they’ve forgotten something in general. Therefore, it wouldn’t be representative of the actual item to have it reveal forgotten information, whether it was gamified for aHogwarts Legacysequel or not.
Even if that wasn’t an issue that fans could suspend disbelief about, it simply wouldn’t make any sense for a quest log to be given through the lens of a Remembrall, particularly whenHogwarts Legacy’s vital field guidewas an apt resource. The sequel might not feature a student gifted with an identical field guide, but a Remembrall would still be insufficient and inaccurate in substituting the magical tome for these purposes alone.
Remembralls Suggest That the User is Forgetful Rather Than Behaving Like a Journal Log
It’s possible that it could still appear as a prompt when players are near NPCs with continued quests as a way to nudge players and tell them a point of interaction is nearby. But if the player had purposefully gone there without having forgotten anything it could be an annoying nuisance to see constantly.
There might not be any useful service for a Remembrall to play after all inHogwarts Legacy’s gameplay; instead, a Remembrall could still appear in the same humorous capacity as it has in the past, giving players that nostalgia in a fun NPC interaction unrelated to any UI or gameplay nonetheless. There might be ways that a sequel could still improve how players navigate its interface and HUD, but a Remembrall would seem to obfuscate these details more than it would help clarify them.
