Summary
Now in its seventh year,Fortnitecontinues to be one of the most successful live-service games out there, and a major factor behind its immense success is its consistent stream of updates. Along with constant balancing tweaks and bug fixes,Fortnitereceives a regular supply of content drops, usually occurring every few weeks or so, bringing new weapons, vehicles, and points of interest to the game. But while these updates keep players hooked for the long haul, it’s often beenFortnite’s high-profile collaborations that have initially brought players in.
Over the last seven years,Fortnitehas collaborated with an overwhelming number of franchises, from gigantic brands likeStar Wars, Marvel, and DC, to musical artists like Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, to even fashion labels like Balenciaga. While not all of these collaborations have been a hit with all players, a good portion of them have, andFortnite’sGod of Warcrossoverwas certainly one of the latter. But it’s been a while since Kratos has seenFortnite’s Item Shop, and this latest season is the perfect opportunity to bring the God of War back.

Fortnite’s Latest Season Paves the Way for God of War’s Kratos to Return
Fortnite’s Kratos Hasn’t Been Seen For Some Time
Fortnite’s Kratos skin originally arrived in the battle royale all the way back in December 2020, where he appeared as an in-game skin depicting his default outfit fromGod of War2018, alongside a Leviathan Axe pickaxe, a Mimir head backpack, a Guardian Shield glider, and a Freeze Burst emote, all for the price of 2200 V-Bucks. Players could also unlock an armored version of the Kratos skin - based on hisValkyrie armor inGod of War2018- by playing with the cosmetic equipped on a PlayStation 5 console.
ThoughFortnite’s Kratos skinappeared throughout December 2020 and the early months of 2021, he disappeared completely soon after, with his lastFortniteItem Shop appearance being July 19, 2025, over 1000 days ago. Naturally, manyGod of WarandFortnitefans have been desperate to see Kratos make his triumphant return to the battle royale, but that day has never come, with the iconic character not even reappearing alongside the release of the critically acclaimedGod of War Ragnarokback in November 2022.
Fortnite’s Greek Season is the Perfect Stage for Another God of War Collaboration
But after years of waiting, it might finally be time for Kratos to make his long-awaited return toFortnite. Launched on March 8,FortniteChapter 5 Season 2brings a Greek mythology-inspired Battle Pass and theme to the battle royale, adding brand-new skins, points of interest, and weapons based on the ancient pantheon. With Kratos' first seven adventures being enveloped in Greek mythology, it seems only logical that his skin should make a return this season.
Thankfully, there have already been several rumors and leaks that point to Kratos' return this season. About a week ago, leaker ShiinaBR took to Twitter to state that a recent Epic Games survey mentioned a “(2005) God of War” skin. Whilet this isn’t necessarily a confirmation that one exists, Epic Games has used its surveys to test the waters for upcoming skins in the past. On top of this, just a few days ago, Reddit user Alphasilverhawk noticed thatEpic Games had updated Kratos' facial animations, which gives credence to the idea that he’ll be returning soon.
