The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis home to some of the most inventive mods in gaming. From gameplay mods to texture-based mods, there have even been mods released that add entire new quests for players to enjoy, separate from what’s already presented inSkyrim. Though, there’s also one mod that inserts a much more modern vehicle into the game with hilarious results.
Of the aspects ofSkyrimthat have been modded in a variety of different ways, dragons have received quite a lot of different mods. There are mods that transform the dragons ofSkyriminto a variety of different things and characters, such asMacho Man Randy Savageand Thomas the Tank Engine. However, there is one texture mod that tends to get overlooked that turns the dragons into something much more modern compared to the high fantasy setting thatSkyrimis known for.

A Reddit user by the name of FLYSWATTER_93 shared a video of a mod that turns the dragons into jet planes. Similar to theThomas the Tank Engine mod, the plane’s movement is quite sporadic and often times will just land vertically, shooting out ice blasts exactly like the dragons would. In any case, it’s still interesting to see an aspect of modernity in an otherwise medieval-based setting.
Many of themods presented inSkyrimare based on characters from other games or intellectual properties. So, to have something like a fighter jet that’s not exactly from anything and exists solely to contrast the fantasy setting is quite refreshing to see in a way. The only other modern mods that come to mind are the mods that add realistic guns intoSkyrim.
It’s amazing to see how the modding community forSkyrimhas managed to persist for so long.Skyrimhas been out for nearly a decade now and released on all different kinds of gaming systems, yet the player base continues to remain active to this day. New mods are still being produced forSkyrimeven now, with mods based onThe Mandalorianreleasing for the game.
It will be interesting to see if theSkyrimcommunity continues to remain active following the release ofThe Elder Scrolls 6. Considering how games likeMorrowindandOblivioncontinue to remain relevant to some degree, the influence ofSkyrimwill likely continue to be felt down the line. Then again, it’s possible thatThe Elder Scrolls 6could surpassSkyrimin some ways, but right now, it’s impossible to know what the final game will look like, given the lack of concrete information.
