Although Worgen may beone of the most popular Alliance racesavailable inWorld of Warcraft, the race arrived long ago enough in the game that some players feel its starting zone is missing a bit of flare. Worgen players began in Gilneas and get to play through a pretty exciting scenario that explains the transformation and eventual purification of their character, but the whole experience does lack a bit of cinematic action.
With that in mind, oneWorld of Warcraftplayer who seems to be a dedicated Worgen enthusiast spent part of the last year developing a fan-made Journy to Gilneas cinematic. The fan trailer introduces viewers to a brand new character, a nameless messenger, and allows us to witness the struggles in Gilneas through his eyes.

The trailer is incredibly well done and was built by combining brand new 3D animation from the creator and custom voice over narration to build a story that gives a deeper look at the devastation that was caused to the city of Gilneas during the outbreak…

This fan-made cinematic definitely matches the tone and style of the more contemporaryWorld of Warcraftstory cutscenes that have been included in the past few expansions. There are obviously still the big highly-produced cinematics for the biggest moments in the story (like the end of the War Campaign), but these cinematics that rely on in-game graphics and animations have become a staple of WoW in the modern-era that help add some additional weight to the game’s narrative arcs.
As many of the starting zones are being reworked for the level squish andthe release of Shadowlands, it will be interested to see if any older starting areas actually do receive some low-budget new cut scenes.
