One such item coming to the Jewelcrafting profession uses a charming new matrimonial mechanic. The Binding of Binding is a new ring players can create that, during battle, can empower a nearby ally. However, the ring also has the ability to form a bond with a particular ally, who always receives the ring’s buff if possible. The Binding of Binding in WoW: The War Within
World of Warcraftfans got a kick out of this new item. Beyond the powerful ability, reminiscent of theAugmentation support DPS specialization inWorld of Warcraft, players were charmed by the idea of “marrying” their in-game friends and partners. Some even joked about threatening their fellow raid members with divorce if their DPS numbers weren’t high enough.
It is important to note that the Binding of Binding was discovered through datamining intheWorld of Warcraft: The War Withinalpha. This means the ring could change before it is launched, or it may not be released at all.
That said, the item sparked discussion about how great an actual marriage system would be inWorld of Warcraft. Other MMOs have these options, such as theCeremony of Eternal Bonding inFinal Fantasy 14. Characters in the critically-acclaimed MMORPG can bond with one another through a customizable ceremony, invite others to attend, and even get special rings that can be used to teleport to one another. WhileWorld of Warcraftrole-players would love to have such a system in Azeroth, the Binding of Binding will have to suffice for the time being.
