The Sunken Temple, also known as the Temple of Atal’Hakkar, is aniconic level 50 dungeon inWorld of Warcraftknown for its labyrinthine design and deadly troll, undead, and draconic denizens. Like mostClassicdungeons, the Sunken Temple was revamped inCataclysm, but many players still remember the sprawling instance as it was in VanillaWoW.

Now, players will have a brand-new way to experience theSunken Temple inWorld of Warcraft ClassicSeason of Discovery Phase 3. This version renders the legendary instance as a 20-person raid with eight bosses. Fans will recognize bosses like Jammal’an the Prophet, the Shade of Eranikus, and the Avatar of Hakkar, but will also encounter new ones like the Festering Rot Slime.World of Warcraftrecently shared a teaser trailer for the instance on its official Twitter account, but as Phase 3 is officially live inClassic, players can challenge the raid once they reach the new Season of Discovery level cap of 50.

WoW Classic Season of Discovery Sunken Temple Raid

UnlikeWorld of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery’s Blackfathom Deepsand Gnomeregan raids, the Sunken Temple will have a weekly lockout that resets every Tuesday, rather than a three-day cycle. To compensate, the bosses in the Temple of Atal’Hakkar will drop more loot when players defeat them.

This new raid is the first one in Season of Discovery to be a 20-player instance, but it won’t be the last.World of Warcrafthas already revealed that Molten Coreis being retooled into a 20-person raid once the level cap is raised to level 60. That said, fans can still expect some endgame raids in Season of Discovery to require 40 players to complete.

Season of Discovery Phase 3 brings plenty of other things for fans to look forward to, includingDual Spec forWoW Classiccharacters, new Rune engravings, and a permanent boost to experience gained. The new Season of Discovery update is live now, so players can dive in and see what secrets await them in the next phase of the experimental servers.
