Deadlinereports that Snyder has spent the last several months meeting with actors and actresses in order to try and fill parts for the Netflix film. Sources told the publication that after Snyder met with Boutella he was “blown away” and realized she needed to be cast as the lead actress. While Snyder hascomparedRebel MoontoMan of Steel, this one doesn’t have a ton in common with his other Netflix pics. Boutella will play a young woman who has a mysterious past and lives on a colony towards the edge of the galaxy. Life in that colony is relatively peaceful until the area is threatened by the armies of the Regent Balisarius. Boutella’s character is then dispatched to recruit warriors who will fight against the invading force.
Boutella first rose to prominence when she starred as Gazellein the firstKingsmanmovie. The character was a henchwoman to Samuel L. Jackson’s Valentine who walked on two prosthetic legs that doubled as razor-sharp swords. The actress then made herself more well known to science-fiction and horror fans by playing Ahmanet, a.k.a.
